Tea for 2000

The Tea for 2000 Parties were a series of fundraising events geared to raise
money for the Montrose Activity Center, MAC. They were quite successful
both in terms of amounts raised and in creating a community spirit.
See this link for more on the history of MAC. Over the years, there were at least
nine main Tea for 2000 events, sponsored by a 'collective' of upwards of 50
members. The group was filed with the Secretary of State and had
a seven-member board, including State Representative Debra Danburg,
Jim Densmore, Eric Liston and Steve Sobota.

Steve Sobota writes: The Bushes was the best party of Houston gay history, and really
nothing could replicate it. There were people who were at Beach 79 on Fire Island, often
said to be the greatest gay party ever, who said the Bushes ranked up close to it.
