Houston GLBT Political Caucus

GLBT Political Caucus (2005)

Not much data in these years. TWT had closed in 2000 and
newsprint papers were struggling. For example, the Houston Voice
essentially stopped in 2006, leaving the Montrose Gem to cover
the late 2000s and the Montrose Star after 2010, and neither had
as their forte political coverage,
so these sources were drying up.

And, information was going more digital, and emailed directly to the mailing list.

Terrific interviews with Mayor Annise Parker, First Lady Kathy Hubbard,
and oh yeah, that's future Caucus President Jovon Tyler with them on the cover.

Above, at the January 6, 2016, Caucus meeting history was made when Fran Watson
was elected as the first African-American female President. Maverick Welch, the preceding
President is shown at the podium with Fran.

Below, at a party celebrating Fran's election she was given a Mayor's Proclamation

The above images are to show the adoption of a new logo, with it first
appearing in a 3/16/16 Facebook post. Though it appears there is some
inconsistancy with its use.....note it says "LGBT" and in the current
Facebook profile image it's "GLBT," the official name designation.
The "LGBT" version appeared on FB all through 2016 and as
late as September of 2017, before reverting to "GLBT."

Houston, the night of the Pulse shooting...
i went to the Caucus 41st Anniversary Event, which of course took on a tone
quite different than they planned, but lots of politicos were there who made
very appropriate remarks. It was nice, and I decided I really needed to be
around people.
