David Magazine history.

The magazine David was founded by Henry C. Godley (April 13, 1927 – July 22, 1991) and Mark W. Riley (1941–1993), who served as
editor-in-chief and managing editor, respectively. It was named after Michelangelo’s David.

David magazine started publication in Jacksonville, Florida in 1970. It covered the Florida LGBT scene and grew over time to encompass the entire Southeast. For a brief few months it had a spin off magazine called Little David, which tried to be a national travel magazine. The magazine switched in 1974 to a weekly magazine called This Week With David. It went back to its original name in 1978. Both of those were small format magazines.

David became sporadic in 1973, ending the year with two small format issues, 5 1/2x8 1/2" for volume #s 3-11 and 3-12. All prior had been in full size, 8 1/2x11". THEN they began Little David, with a new Volume number, again in small format in February, for presumedly 5 issues. I have not seen #4. Unknown if there were more. Little David started off with dates of 2/15/74, 4/15/74, and then dropped the year data completely. Apparently they knew they could not rely on a schedule.
BUT in July another new volume number, #4 came out with two issues, back to full size, unknown if there were more.
Obviously much publishing uncertainty.

David (Florida), and many other publications, ended in November 2009 when parent company Windows Media shut down

Other publications closing included the Washington Blade, Southern Voice, Houston Voice

See Wiki

Note, there's Another David.......but these are from Atlanta

It was owned by Windows Media, and ran from 1998 until 2009, until WM closed
it sputtered up and down so much it is hard to clearly document.

Around 2016 it resurfaced, and is current....not sure of the connection to the former mag

And (a webmaster complaint), they sure were NOT steadfast in their issue numbering.
For example, #182 is newer than #181. And apparently in 2012 they began the numbering
again...Issue 64 is in 2013. When did it reset?

I'm not necessarily trying to collect the Atlanta ones, but would love to get cover shots
of a bunch more to more solidify the numbering
