First Meeting of Homosexuals at the White House

In
March 1977, a historic conference was held, the first meeting of homosexuals
at the White House
to discuss complaints of discrimination by government agencies. Midge
Costanza called the meeting,
in her capacity as presidential assistant for public liaisons. Invited
were leaders of national gay
organizations including several repersentatives from the National Gay
Task Force (NGTF), such as
Jean O'Leary, Bruce Voeller, Frank Kameny, Charles Brydon and Betty
Powell; Bishop Troy Perry,
California activist George Raya, Charlotte Bunch, and......the reason
this even included on this site,
Pokey Anderson, a founder of the Houston Gay Political Caucus.
